Russia's state nuclear energy company Rosatom has evacuated another part of its staff from the Bushehr nuclear power plant in Iran, warning of an increased risk of a nuclear accident, Russian news agencies reported.
According to reports, 198 employees left the facility on Saturday, following an evacuation process that has been underway since the start of the conflict in late February.
The latest evacuation was planned before the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) announced on Platform X that a member of the plant's physical security staff had been killed by fragments of a missile. The agency added that a building in the complex was damaged by shock waves and fragments.
Rosatom Director Alexei Likhachev said developments at the plant were evolving into a potentially negative scenario, raising security concerns. He also confirmed that the victim was an Iranian national.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned that the attacks by the United States and Israel near the Bushehr power plant pose a significant risk not only to Iran, but also to the Gulf region.
Recent developments highlight the vulnerability of nuclear infrastructure in conflict conditions and raise fears of wider consequences in the event of further escalation.
