Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has raised the alarm that the Kremlin could expand its aggression beyond Ukrainian borders, hitting another European country.
During a statement in Kyiv, after returning from a meeting with US President Donald Trump at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Zelensky warned that Moscow is testing the air defenses of NATO member countries through drone attacks and unauthorized entries into the airspace of European countries.
"Putin does not intend to end the war only on Ukrainian territory. He wants to open another front, although it is not yet known where. It is part of his strategic goal ," the Ukrainian president said.
He recalled recent incidents of Russian drones and fighter jets violating the airspace of Denmark, Poland, Romania and Estonia, as part of a campaign to analyze Europe's defense capabilities.
Zelenskyy added that some European Union countries are encountering difficulties in dealing with this new form of threat.
The Ukrainian president mentioned the incident when Ukraine detected 92 drones moving in a coordinated manner towards Poland. According to him, most of them were neutralized, but 19 managed to penetrate Polish territory, where four were shot down by Polish air defense forces.
"I'm not making comparisons between our armies. We are at war; they are not ," Zelenskyy said.
