The American President, Joe Biden, has expressed himself very worried about the situation created in Ukraine, as he also listed the dangers that threaten the Balkans in the event that the USA does not continue to send aid to Kiev.
Speaking after a conference with American heads of state, on January 19, Biden mentioned the powerful position of the United States in the world, and the challenges that other countries are facing.
" If we stop, and Russia continues to fight and Ukraine is defeated, what do you think will happen to the Balkan countries? What will happen to Poland until Hungary? Seriously, think about it. It changes the dynamic ," Biden is reported to have said, according to the White House.
The American Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, made such a warning in November last year. He said that the last thing the West wants in the Western Balkan region is the return of old conflicts.
On September 24, an armed Serb group attacked the Kosovo Police, killing Sergeant Afrim Bunjaku. Kosovo blamed the state of Serbia for the attack, although the latter has denied everything. The responsibility for the attack has been taken by Millan Radoicic, former vice-president of Lista Serbe, the largest party of Serbs in Kosovo, for whom NTERPOL has issued international arrest warrants.
This attack alerted the US-EU that the recurrence of conflicts in the Balkans is always active and a small push is enough to explode.
After the attacks in Banjska i Zveçan, in September of last year, KFOR, the NATO mission in Kosovo, has increased its presence in this country and now counts 4,500 members, in order to prevent a repetition of the attack.
On the other hand, the United States, which has helped Ukraine the most since the start of the war, is currently facing a blockade by some conservative Republicans, who have opposed further allocation of aid to this country. Even the European Union has failed to allocate funds worth 50 billion dollars to Ukraine, due to the veto used by Hungary.
Last month, the head of the US Budget Office, Shalanda Young, said in a letter to House Speaker Mike Johnson that if military aid ends, then Kiev will bow to Russian occupation.
In total, the United States has allocated $111 billion to Ukraine since the start of the war, including $67 billion for the purchase of military equipment.
If aid is not unlocked as soon as possible, Ukraine's capitulation is only a matter of time. With the triumph in Ukraine, Putin would become unstoppable and the Balkans would be the perfect blow to bring Europe to its knees.
