Military police patrols have been increased in the main and largest cities of Serbia.
Many policemen and soldiers are stationed in squares, parks, shopping malls, railway stations and in areas with the highest traffic. This is the decision that was taken after the meeting of the National Security Council.
The Serbian Army, together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the security services, are undertaking preventive measures to increase the security of citizens, facilities and institutions of the Republic of Serbia, the communiqué states.
"The safety and security of citizens is a priority and the Serbian Army remains ready to, in accordance with the Constitution, the law and the decisions taken by the state leadership, deploy its forces and resources and together with other security forces ensure the safety of to the citizens of the Republic of Serbia", concludes the statement.
No reason has been given as to why these measures have been taken, but it should be noted that they started during the weekend we left behind, a few hours after the terrorist attack in Moscow. We remind you that many European countries have increased security levels after the tragic event.
Speaking about the increased presence of police units in shopping centers and stadiums, Aleksandar Vucic said that Serbia "will be merciless to anyone who wants to threaten our population."
"We will do our best, the bird will not be able to fly and endanger either our guests, or hosts, or anyone. And those who thought of doing something, let them think about it now. We will be merciless to anyone who wants to threaten our population," said Aleksandar Vucic in a guest appearance on Prva television.
On the other hand, today in Belgrade, Vucic will meet with the ambassadors of the QUINT countries, the USA, Great Britain, France, Italy and Germany, as well as with the chief of staff of the EU Delegation in Serbia.
As the media reports, it is expected that the topic of discussion will be Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe and membership in the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, as well as the issue of dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina.
The session of the Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe on Political Affairs and Democracy has been announced for today in Paris, where the report on Kosovo's admission to that institution will be discussed.
Vucic had earlier warned that Serbia "will have an answer" if Kosovo becomes a member of the Council of Europe and mentioned leaving the European organization as one of the possibilities.
As for the dialogue with Pristina, last week and this week two meetings were held in Brussels at the level of the main negotiators and the topic was finding a solution after the removal of the dinar as a means of payment in the territory of Kosovo
Agreement was not reached after two meetings and a new round of dialogue is due to be held on April 4.
Before the meeting with Vučić, American Ambassador Christopher Hill will meet with the newly elected Speaker of the Serbian Parliament, Ana Brnabić, at 9 o'clock in the morning.
