Three American service members were killed and five others were seriously injured in combat operations amid the escalating conflict with Iran, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced. According to the official statement, several other service members suffered minor injuries from shrapnel and concussions and are gradually returning to duty.
The US military stressed that major combat operations are continuing and that the military response is still developing. Authorities did not release the identities of the victims, explaining that full information will be made public 24 hours after their families are notified. US officials described the situation as dynamic and constantly changing.
At the same time, the Pentagon denied Iran's claims that it had hit the US aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln in the Persian Gulf. According to the US military statement, the ship was not hit and the missiles launched by Iran "never came close to the target". The US Navy confirmed that the USS Abraham Lincoln continues operations and launches aircraft in support of the military campaign that Washington describes as an effort to neutralize threats from the Iranian regime.
Tehran's claims of hitting the aircraft carrier marked a new escalation in rhetoric between the parties, as a successful attack on such a ship would constitute a significant strategic development. Washington's denial aims to clarify the operational situation at sea, while air and missile clashes continue on several fronts.
The conflict between the US, Israel and Iran has entered a phase with direct involvement of US forces and confirmed human losses. With ongoing operations and strong statements from both sides, the situation remains tense and with a high risk of further regional escalation.
