The US will officially come out with a decision on sanctions against Serbia before January 15, said Vucic.
The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, said at the government meeting today that the US will impose comprehensive direct sanctions on Serbia's oil industry.
About this problem, he said that he will talk personally with the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin after January 20.
He emphasized that the US will officially come out with a decision on sanctions before January 15.
"I told the undersecretary that we cannot be happy about such a decision, but we have no room for complaints, it is clear that it is not right, but we will leave that to the analysts. The only question is why now and at this moment there are strange reasons", he emphasized.
Vucic announced that the State Department had received a deadline of 30 days for Serbia to consider alternative solutions to the situation and that it will come up with a final decision by March 15.
The Serbian president said that he suspects that this is just an attempt to destabilize Serbia from the outside, but that there is no reason to claim this definitively.
As a last resort, the president mentioned a hostile takeover, adding that he shares his concern about this issue and that it is necessary that this does not happen.
Vuçi said that he will first talk with the new American administration of President Trump, and then he will talk with Putin about it. He reiterated that Russia and Azerbaijan were important partners of Serbia in this plan. He also warned of a possible increase in current, which could also be caused by this situation.
Kosovo and foreign policy
The President also referred to the situation in Kosovo, mentioning the attempt to exclude the Serbian List from the race for the February elections. He assessed this as another move of the destructive policy of the Prime Minister of Kosovo by Albin Kurti and appealed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to inform foreign partners about such situations and make the Kosovo issue a priority. Vucic added that the ministries should also focus on cultivating relations with the new American administration of President Trump.
