The head of the UN's Palestinian refugee agency UNRWA reiterated his call for a cease-fire in Gaza, saying they were receiving "horrific images and footage of dozens of people killed and injured" in the Israeli attack on the school of Al- Fakhoura.
"We have received horrific images and footage of a number of people killed and injured at another UNRWA school housing thousands of displaced people in the northern Gaza Strip. These attacks cannot become commonplace, they must be stopped. A humanitarian ceasefire cannot wait any longer" , said Philippe Lazzarini on platform X.
Earlier on Saturday, dozens of Palestinians were killed and wounded in Israeli shelling of the UN-run training center in the Jabalia refugee camp.
Israel launched airstrikes and later a ground incursion after the October 7 attack by the Palestinian group Hamas. Since then, they have killed more than 12,000 people, most of them women and children, and leveled thousands of civilian structures and imposed a complete blockade that led to shortages of basic supplies such as food, fuel and medicine.
