One person was killed in Abu Dhabi after debris from missiles intercepted by air defense systems fell on the area, state news agency WAM reported, citing the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Defense.
According to authorities, the victim is an Asian national. The incident occurred after the Emirati air defenses intercepted a number of ballistic missiles launched by Iran, which were targeting US bases in the country's capital.
The UAE Ministry of Defense described the attack as "a dangerous escalation and a cowardly act," stressing that defense systems successfully functioned to neutralize the threat.
