An explosion has been heard near the Russian consulate building in Marseille.
Local media reports suggest an explosion was heard near the Russian consulate in the southern French city of Marseille. French police did not immediately comment on the reports, although broadcaster BFM Marseille Provence said firefighters had confirmed an incident.
According to Russian news outlet RBC, the consul general in the city, Stanislav Oranskiy, said the explosion occurred inside the consulate. Russian news agency Tass reports that the explosion has all the hallmarks of a “terrorist attack.”
The Russian Foreign Ministry has called for an investigation into the "explosions", according to Tass.
The incident in the southern French city comes on the third anniversary of the war in Ukraine.
