The US administration is intensifying diplomatic contacts for a possible peace agreement with Iran, while President Donald Trump has urgently summoned Vice President JD Vance and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to the White House for consultations on developments in the Middle East.

According to Axios, JD Vance has immediately returned from Ohio, while Pete Hegseth from New York, to participate in discussions on the Iranian peace proposal, which is being considered by Washington.

Meanwhile, American media reports that the US and Iran may announce within 24 hours the finalization of a draft agreement to stop fighting on several fronts of tension in the Middle East.

The Washington Times, citing sources close to the negotiations, writes that a preliminary draft was agreed upon Saturday morning and that the official American response to the Iranian proposal is expected by Sunday.

Diplomatic moves have raised expectations for a reduction in tensions in the region, after weeks filled with threats, attacks and fears of military escalation.

In parallel with developments in Washington, French President Emmanuel Macron has held intensive talks with Gulf leaders and Donald Trump about the situation in the Middle East.

According to French media, Macron has spoken with the king of Jordan, the emir of Qatar and the crown prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman, in an attempt to coordinate positions on the regional crisis.

The negotiations are being closely followed by the international community, as any agreement between the US and Iran could directly impact regional security, global energy markets, and geopolitical balances in the Middle East.
