Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is said to be resigning as an MP after receiving the report on the investigation into the Partygate scandal.
The report by the MP-led Privileges Committee looked into whether he misled Parliament about holidays while in Downing Street quarantine, while Johnson accused the Commons inquiry of trying to "exorcise" him.
" They still have no evidence that I knowingly or recklessly misled the Commons ," he said.
In evidence given to the commission in March, Johnson admitted he had misled Parliament but denied he had done it on purpose.
" I have not lied and I believe that in their hearts the commission knows this. They know very well that when I spoke in the Commons, I was saying what I believed to be true and what I was briefed to say, like any other minister, " he said in a statement released after his resignation on Friday night. .
