Joe Biden spoke for the first time after being diagnosed with aggressive prostate cancer and delivered a message of optimism about his health.
In his speech from Delaware, he reiterated his belief that the disease can be defeated, avoiding any direct reference to Donald Trump.
"Everyone is very optimistic... We hope that we will be able to beat it," the former US president said, referring to cancer.
He stressed that he is already taking medication, taking one pill a day, while assuring that, although the disease has spread to the bones, "it has not penetrated any organs" and "the bones are strong."
He also mentioned that he is being monitored by an excellent surgeon, who has previously defeated the same type of cancer.
