British authorities have arrested an Iranian national and a woman after an attempt to enter a strategically important naval base in Scotland.
Scottish Police arrested a 34-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman at HM Naval Base Clyde at around 5pm on Thursday. According to official records, the suspects attempted to force their way onto the base premises but were unable to gain entry.
The facility at Faslane serves as the main hub for the Royal Navy's nuclear submarines, including those equipped with Trident ballistic missiles.
The incident comes at a time of heightened international tensions, following the escalation of the conflict involving Iran and its Western allies. In this context, British authorities have begun reviewing the threat level, which is currently assessed as "considerable".
The British government has taken additional security measures, increasing protection for military bases and personnel to the maximum level.
