The United States of America believes that the long-awaited counteroffensive of Ukraine will result in the seizure of important strategic territories from Kiev.
The White House's national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, expressed that he expects positive results from the counteroffensive that is expected to start this summer.
" I don't know exactly in which countries the attack will start, but it will depend on the developments on the ground. But we believe that the Ukrainians will succeed in this counteroffensive ," he said.
Asked if that meant he expected some form of negotiations by the end of this year, Sullivan said he would not give any kind of time frame, but said developments on the battlefield would have a "huge impact" on any future negotiations.
"But what I will say is this: President Zelensky himself has said that this war will ultimately end through diplomacy ," Sullivan said.
