As US President Donald Trump talks about negotiations and a ceasefire in Iran, Israel presents a completely different picture. The Israeli military said it struck one of the main headquarters of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and several other military buildings in Tehran on Tuesday.
" The Israeli Air Force carried out a wave of large-scale attacks on Iranian regime infrastructure ," the IDF said in a statement.
Earlier today, Iran's semi-official Fars news agency said several locations across Tehran were targeted in Israeli airstrikes. Meanwhile, the Iranian Red Crescent Society said it was searching under the rubble of a residential building in Tehran for a child.
The IDF said the headquarters of the Iranian security organization and "major weapons production sites" were among the targeted facilities, as well as other production sites and research facilities related to electronics, ballistic missiles and nuclear warheads.
In a separate statement regarding the IRGC headquarters it said it hit, the IDF said the facility was used by the Iranian military to synchronize unit activities and conduct situational assessments, as well as to direct the Basij paramilitary force.
"The attack on the headquarters is part of the current operational phase aimed at further degrading the Iranian terrorist regime's core systems and security capabilities. Steps have been taken to mitigate harm to civilians, including the use of precision munitions, aerial surveillance and additional intelligence," the IDF said.
