Trump: Khamenei may be alive but seriously injured

United States President Donald Trump has stated that he is optimistic about reaching an agreement with Iran, also mentioning the possibility of "regime change" in the country.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One on Sunday evening, Trump said the US is in constant communication with Tehran, both directly and through intermediary channels.

"I believe we will reach a deal with them. I am quite confident, although there is a possibility that it will not happen," he said. Trump added that, in his opinion, the situation in Iran has already changed significantly, describing it as a kind of transformation of the existing regime and emphasizing that there are "a completely different group of people" on the scene.

He also stressed that the Iranian side has shown willingness to be more flexible during the negotiations and confirmed that Tehran has responded to the American 15-point ceasefire plan.

"They've given us back most of the points. Why wouldn't they?" the US president declared.

However, Trump did not provide details on the concrete content of the negotiations, leaving it unclear what compromises may have been discussed by the Iranian side.

At the same time, he also commented on developments in the Iranian leadership, stating that the new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, "may still be alive, but he is in serious difficulty" and that he "has been seriously injured."
