United States President Donald Trump has suggested that Israel's war in Gaza should end, as international outrage grows over the horrific atrocities being committed: the daily massacres of civilians, the killings of journalists and doctors, and the famine inflicted by Israel on the besieged and bombed Palestinian enclave.
"I think within the next two to three weeks, you're going to have a pretty good, definitive ending," Trump told reporters on Monday.
The US president has previously promised an end to the war with his characteristic bombast, but his declarations have not materialized in a ceasefire or even the free flow of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian population suffering under a punitive Israeli blockade.
The Trump administration has supplied Israel with billions of dollars in weapons and rejected international efforts to recognize a Palestinian state.
"This situation has to end because between the hunger and all the other problems - worse than hunger, death, pure death - people are being killed," Trump said.
