US President Donald Trump has sent a new message following the developments that followed his decision on tariffs.
"For the many investors who come to the United States to invest large sums of money, my policy will never change," Donald Trump promises in a message posted on his social network.
As stock markets tumble after another escalation of his trade war, he claims "it's a good time to be rich, richer than ever!!!"
Earlier, China announced that it would add a 34% tariff on US goods starting April 10.
The Treasury Department says US tariffs on Chinese goods are "contrary to international trade rules."
"China has always been a staunch defender of the international economic and trade order and a firm supporter of the multilateral trading system," the ministry said, adding that "we call on the US to immediately correct its wrong practices and cancel its unilateral tariff measures."
US President Donald Trump has announced 54% tariffs on China, which include previous tariffs already imposed.
The statement from China's Ministry of Finance states:
“The imposition of so-called “reciprocal tariffs” by the US seriously violates WTO rules, seriously harms the legitimate rights and interests of WTO members, and seriously damages the multilateral trading system and the international economic and trade order.
This is a typical unilateral practice of intimidation that endangers the stability of the global economic and trade order. China strongly opposes this.
"China has always been a staunch defender of the international economic and trade order and a staunch supporter of the multilateral trading system. We call on the United States to immediately correct its wrong practices and cancel its unilateral tariff measures."
