In his podcast, the far-right media personality claims that the Jewish movement Chabad is fomenting conflict to destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque and build the Third Temple in Jerusalem.
Anti-Semitic media personality Tucker Carlson, one of the world's most influential commentators, reaching hundreds of millions of people online, has caused a storm on social media with his craziest conspiracy theory to date.
During an episode of his podcast titled "War Update: Israel's Real Motive," Carlson questioned why some Israeli soldiers were photographed wearing patches reading "Beis Hamikdosh" (Temple), suggesting that the real goal of Israel's war was to destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount.
"How did all these guys end up wearing patches that suggest the goal of this war was to destroy one of Islam's holiest sites and rebuild a temple that is completely unacceptable to Christianity?" Carlson asked.
"This has been happening publicly for a long time, in part through the efforts of a group called Chabad," Carlson explained, describing Chabad, led by the Rebbe from Brooklyn, as "good people engaged in all kinds of charitable activities, including drug rehabilitation ," saying that "there are a lot of things about Chabad that are really good."
However, he says they "have pushed in a pretty subtle way, unless you look carefully, for the rebuilding of the Third Temple," Carlson told his viewers.
"It seems, from the readings we did recently, those patches actually came from Chabad," he said.
In fact, the patches Carlson mentioned are associated with "High On The Har," a Temple Mount activist group that advocates for increased Jewish access to the area. The group has no organizational affiliation with Chabad. The connection between the patches and "High on the Har" is publicly documented and easily verifiable.
