The President of Republika Srpska in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Milorad Dodik, who is also the leader of the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), announced that he will be his party's candidate for the top position in RS in next year's elections.
This is despite the fact that the Bosnia and Herzegovina court sentenced him to one year in prison and banned him from serving as president of RS for six years in a first-instance ruling.
Dodik said that the decision has already been made and that his candidacy has been confirmed.
"The abuse of processes in Bosnia and Herzegovina will end with the start of the election of a new Republika Srpska Election Commission in May and the conduct of elections at the RS level in accordance with our Election Law," Dodik said.
