Russian President Vladimir Putin has surprised many analysts with his statement, where he said that Biden's presidency is better than Trump's.
This statement of his refutes all the speeches made by Trump, who said that he had better relations with Putin.
"A Joe Biden presidency would be better for Russia than a Donald Trump presidency," Putin said in an interview with pro-Kremlin journalist Pavel Zurib on Wednesday.
Asked by Zuribin about the upcoming US presidential elections, Putin said that Biden would be better for Russia because he is a more experienced person, he is predictable, he is a politician of an old formation.
However, he added that Russia will work with any US leader who earns the trust of the American people. Putin also said that to judge the actions of the current administration one must look at its political position.
"I believe the position of the current administration is extremely harmful and wrong, " Putin said, referring to Russia's war in Ukraine.
The Russian president said he regretted not starting the military operation in Ukraine earlier than February 2022, claiming that Western leaders had lied to Russia about not expanding NATO to the East.
"We were and are concerned about the possibility of Ukraine joining NATO, as this threatens our security," Putin said.
The Russian leader also expressed disappointment about his recent interview with far-right media figure Tucker Carlson.
"I honestly thought he was going to be aggressive and ask tough questions. "I was not only ready for this, but I wanted this interview because it would give me the opportunity to give difficult answers," Putin said.
"To be honest, I didn't really like that interview," he said.
