Andrea Dessi, a professor at the American University of Rome, notes that the US president's social media post, giving Hamas a deadline of Sunday to respond to his plan for Gaza, includes several false claims promoted by Israel.
This includes the lie that more than 25,000 Hamas fighters have been killed since Israel began its war in the Strip, an inflated figure, according to Dessi, and a call for Palestinians to be relocated to so-called “safer” parts of the enclave. According to her, this action is nothing more than a reward for the perpetrator of the genocide.
" We know from the United Nations that there is no safe place in Gaza. It is also true that we cannot be in a position to reward the perpetrator of a genocide. This means that more details are needed on monitoring, implementation and guarantees regarding the US proposal. We are very far from a detailed plan to which I believe Hamas will be able to give a positive response ," Dessi told Al Jazeera.
