After confirming the news of Iran's President Ebrahim Raisi's death, Middle East journalist Alistair Bunkall said Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had told the country "not to worry, as there is a plan for the continuity of government".
He explained that the vice president has parts of the Constitution that ensure that Mohammad Mokhber will take office temporarily.
"Elections must be held within 50 days, but there will certainly be a long period of mourning in Iran for Raisin and the others who died on board. Raisi was an ultraconservative. Many will mourn his death" , said Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei also writes that there are a significant number of Iranians who opposed him and, according to him, will celebrate the death of the Iranian president.
He also said that the death of Ebrahim Raisi does not mean that Iran and its regime will go from being ultra-conservative to more moderate.
"It is very likely that whoever succeeds him as president will be chosen by the supreme leader and will be another hard-line ultraconservative ," Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said.
