A video widely shared on social media shows the moment a resident in Kuwait threatens with a metal pipe an American pilot who had parachuted from an F-15 fighter jet that had been shot down over the country's territory.
The footage shows a group of men approaching the pilot, shouting, while one of them is holding a metal pipe. According to the video, the pilot is heard repeating in English: "Back! Stop!" as the men get closer and closer to him.
According to reports accompanying the video, some of the people initially suspected that the pilot was Iranian, which seems to have increased tension in the first moments of the confrontation.
The situation calmed down after the pilot was told he was American. After that, the men backed down and let him go.
According to published information, the pilot was on one of three US aircraft that mistakenly crashed over the Middle Eastern country on Monday. Authorities have not yet provided full details on the circumstances of the incident.
