Qatar confirms Al Udeid base hit. Authorities say there were no casualties, while another missile was intercepted by air defenses.
A ballistic missile fired from Iran hit the Al Udeid air base in Qatar, the largest US military installation in the Middle East. The news was confirmed by Qatar's Defense Ministry, which said the attack caused no casualties.
Military authorities in Qatar also announced that air defense systems intercepted another ballistic missile launched by Iran towards the country's territory.
Al Udeid Air Base serves as the main operational center for US forces in the region and houses thousands of soldiers as well as command structures for air operations in the Middle East.
The Pentagon has not yet issued an official response to the incident. The attack comes at a time of heightened tensions between Iran, the United States and Israel, as military operations in the region continue.
