The drone attack on the intelligence facility comes after the strikes on the US embassy in Saudi Arabia and the incident near the consulate in Dubai.

An Iranian suicide drone struck a US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) station in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Monday, causing material damage to the facility, the Washington Post reported, citing informed sources.

The attack reportedly targeted a facility linked to US intelligence operations in the Saudi capital. There were no immediate reports of casualties, and US and Saudi authorities have not provided full details on the extent of the damage.

The strike marks a direct escalation against American security interests in the region, at a time when tensions between Tehran, Washington and their allies have risen sharply.

The attack is considered a development of high strategic importance, as it directly affects the US intelligence infrastructure in the region. Unlike attacks on embassies, which are mainly diplomatic and symbolic in nature, a facility linked to the CIA represents a key component of security operations and information collection.

The attack in Riyadh follows a string of incidents in recent days. Earlier, the US embassy in Saudi Arabia was hit, causing material damage but no injuries. Reuters also reported smoke near the US Consulate in Dubai after explosions in the area, although authorities have not confirmed any direct damage to the diplomatic mission.

In response to the heightened threat, the United States closed its embassy in Beirut “until further notice” and beefed up security at other diplomatic missions in the region. Washington has also urged American citizens to avoid travel and, when possible, to leave areas of high tension.

The escalation follows attacks by the US and Israel on targets in Iran, opening a cycle of reciprocal strikes that has already included Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. The expansion of the targets to intelligence infrastructure suggests a deeper phase of the conflict, with the risk of wider destabilization of the Persian Gulf.
