Michelle Obama has said she was supposed to meet with director Rob Reiner and his wife on the night they were allegedly murdered by their son, Nick Reiner, at their Los Angeles home.
"We were supposed to meet them that night and we got the news," Michelle Obama said on "Jimmy Kimmel Live."
The former first lady said she and her husband were devastated when they learned that the legendary director and his wife, with whom they had been friends for many years, had been murdered.
Michelle Obama revealed that she and the former president were about to meet Rob Reiner and his wife before discovering they had been killed just hours earlier.
"Let me just say this: Unlike some people, Rob and Michele Reiner are some of the kindest and bravest people you would ever want to know," she said, referring to remarks made by former President Trump, who called Reiner "crazy" and "tortured and struggling" in a post on Truth Social after the director's death.
After the couple's death, former President Obama issued a statement praising the Reiners' legacy.
"Michelle and I are saddened by the tragic passing of Rob Reiner and his beloved wife, Michele. Rob's achievements in film and television gave us some of our most treasured on-screen stories," he wrote on X.
