The pressure on Serbia has never been greater. This is what the Minister of Finance in Serbia, Sinisha Mali, claims, who confirmed that President Aleksandar Vucic has sent letters to European leaders, this morning, on the issue of Kosovo's possible membership in the Council of Europe, writes Danas.
As he claims, Vucic has written to German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, French President Emmanuel Macron, and other leaders.
"I have not seen the president more worried than these days. The pressures and problems have never been greater", declared the Minister of Finance, who mentioned Kosovo, Russian sanctions and the resolution on Srebrenica as challenges.
"The first challenge for us is precisely the Council of Europe and the war that awaits us", Mali said, adding that Serbia will do everything to prevent Kosovo's membership from happening. He emphasized that anyone who knows Vucic knows that giving up is not an option for him and that he always wins.
Vucic also said yesterday that the efforts at the UN to approve a resolution against the genocide in Srebrenica are a war against the Serbian people.
During a visit to Serbia, the latter said that the genocide had not happened and that it was an invention to demonize the Serbian people and transfer collective responsibility to them. Vucic was of the same line, who said that he would ask the UN to examine all the procedures.
In an open challenge to the West, President Vučić also said that Serbia has no intention of changing its position on the issue of sanctions against Russia. After being asked if Macron had imposed a condition on the imposition of sanctions or something else for the provision of the Rafal jets, Vučić said that the Serbian position did not change and that no one can blackmail him.
