Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, at the International Conference on Global Politics held in France, said that Serbia is in a difficult situation due to the Kosovo issue.
In a conversation with the founder of the Conference, Thierry de Montbrial, Vučić said that a country that does not recognize Kosovo's independence cannot be attacked, mentioning China, Kazakhstan, Russia and India.
"We made a decision and that's it. The biggest and most powerful countries in the world did not decide this, except for the United States of America. This is how we end up in a situation where we are not fully in line with the foreign policy of the European Union," Vučić said.
He stated that Serbia also had recommendations in this regard, to be part of the European defense system, but not NATO, but for the European Union to give something in return.
"We don't need the veto right, commissioners, not even your funds. Someone should create an opportunity for Serbia and the Serbian people and say: you can have this. You should understand our position, because you take away 14 percent of the territory from someone and tell that person: now you should be happy. This is not realistic," Vučić said.
He stated that changes could happen in Serbia, that other political movements could come to power, but asked "do you really believe that the situation will be different on these issues," and then answered: "No."
Vučić asked how no one said that international law and the United Nations Charter were violated in the case of Serbia.
Vučić called on the European Union to resolve the issues of the Western Balkans, Ukraine and Moldova. He said that the membership of Montenegro and Iceland is being talked about as a major undertaking, even though these countries have less than one million inhabitants.
Vučić added that Europe needs "bold and strategic decisions" and that Europe must expand its influence in Africa and Asia.
