Wagner Group base discovered in Bulgaria, suspected of being used for

A Russian Wagner Group base has been discovered in the village of Kladnica in southern Bulgaria , just 50 kilometers from the border with Serbia. As revealed by the Bulgarian association BOEC, it is a small structure in a mountainous area that is very carefully guarded and is suspected of being used for paramilitary activities.

In addition to strict control of the facility, which includes guard dogs, the base is very difficult to reach as it is located in inaccessible terrain.

According to a statement from the association that discovered the mysterious object, the people standing near it have distinctive signs of the Russian paramilitary organization "Wagner" on their clothes, wear hats with their symbols, and some are even armed.

According to the Bulgarian association, the Russian flag and the emblem of the Wagner group are located on the building itself.

"People around the house are wearing clothes and hats with the logo of the Russian paramilitary organization "Wagner", which is under the control of Russian special services," claims BOEC representative Georgi Georgiev.

The association immediately informed the Bulgarian Ministry of Internal Affairs of its discovery, highlighting: the presence of armed individuals, the symbols of an organization under international sanctions, and the possible involvement of current or former members of the security services.

BOEC, an association that monitors the work of state institutions, fights corruption, and exposes threats to public and state security, believes that the presence of such individuals poses a serious threat to national security.

Georgiev criticized, as he claims, the lack of institutional response, suggesting that the relevant authorities are not taking appropriate measures despite the seriousness of the allegations.

The Wagner Group was named after composer Richard Wagner. Their leader and, it is believed, founder was Yevgeny Prigozhin, who died in a mysterious plane crash in 2023 after becoming embroiled in open conflict with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

However, there is also information that this group was founded by Dmitry Utkin, who was once the commander of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (GRU).
