A massive search and rescue operation is underway in the mid-Atlantic after a tourist submarine went missing during a dive on the wreck of the Titanic on Sunday.
All the search teams are in a race against time in an attempt to get the survivors alive on board the submarine, as it is said that the submarine has only 24 hours of oxygen left. After this time limit any hope of finding them alive is extinguished.
The search is taking place on two sides of the ocean, one at its bottom with robotic submarines and the other on the surface with planes patrolling the area.
Meanwhile, some sounds have been heard at the bottom of the ocean that are thought to have come from the missing submarine. According to experts, on board the missing ship is a retired French diver, who knows very well the procedure in these cases.
According to divers' protocol for alerting search teams if you're stranded at the bottom of the ocean, you have to bang something against the ship's walls for three minutes every half hour.]This is the only hope of rescue teams who are trying to locate the sounds using a series of buoys equipped with microphones in order to narrow the search area.
The next step is to land a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) to locate Titan using sonar and cameras. Afterwards, the vehicle will be extracted by means of robotic submarines, if its engine does not work./ BBC
