The mayor of the municipality of Struga, Ramiz Merko, will not be the only person on the US blacklist. This has been confirmed by the American ambassador to North Macedonia, Angela P. Aggeler, who claimed that there will be other names of persons declared "non grata" by Washington.
She added that the process of declaring a person "unwanted" is done carefully and is based on facts.
"Such determinations take time, and are accompanied by a detailed legal verification process, so they are not taken, they are not done quickly, and at a certain point some names are reviewed as our legal office in the US and other offices review the facts," she said .
Asked when the other names are expected to be announced, the ambassador said that due to the sensitivity of the issue, she cannot mention clear deadlines.
" I just want to emphasize that the United States takes such a thing very seriously" , was her comment.
We remind you that a day ago the US Department of State declared non grata the mayor of Struga Municipality in North Macedonia. Washington will not allow him to enter the United States, due to his involvement in significant corruption. DASH's announcement states that Merko has illegally appropriated funds and interfered in court proceedings and other public proceedings, damaging the public's trust in the democratic institutions of North Macedonia.
