A deja-vu scene was the lavish red carpet in front of the Palace of Congresses, the left corner reserved for journalists and Edi Rama basking in the sun on it as he waited for other political leaders to arrive at the Summit called, "Ukraine-Southeastern Europe ", yesterday. The difference was that this time, Rama was not alone, but together with the President of Ukraine, a country that has been at war with Russia for 2 years, Volodymyr Zelensky.
The effort of the official Albanian protocol, understandably under the full guidance of those who have the real authorship of this spectacle, has not gone in vain to some extent. If you look at it from afar, this seems like a positive venture, even if one-sided, in favor of Ukraine, a natural direction of Albania from the West.
But what is really cooking in this pressure cooker that can explode at any moment? Will there be, and if so, what are the consequences for Albania that has opened the gates without asking for anything?
Is Edi Rama using this war and the demands of the Americans for his own interests?
Why was Alex Soros part of the Albanian delegation, what role does he have?
And above all, why does Edi Rama stubbornly continue to ignore the legally decision-making bodies for such cases, the President and the Parliament of Albania?
The world is boiling and this is old news by now. The future looks bleak for war-weary Ukraine. Currently, there are reports of a lack of soldiers and ammunition, not to mention the flurry of aid from the West, which has sometimes given aid to Ukraine during the day, and sometimes at night. Sometimes openly and sometimes secretly. Anyway, with noise for the ears of Russia and China that hides behind it, and all other world actors involved, where Albania is neither a part nor has power.
From across the Atlantic, President Biden's Executive Order to fund the war in Ukraine has not yet passed Congress. Which is not to say that American aid has been absent. On the contrary! The American position is clear and the American logo in this war is clearly visible. Also the West. Despite the fluid positions of Romania, Bulgaria and Poland, the countries of Europe have a clear position and Macron's statement about the introduction of NATO forces into Ukraine means a lot.
But wars are not battles won with words, and Russia's behavior is still dominant. The field of view is not complete and the game under the mat has become visible for as long as Albania was once again at the center of a spectacle that is trying to send messages to the near and far east.
Blinken's visit a few days ago was the first message conveyed that Edi Rama is fully at the service of the West. So far we can understand the Prime Minister of Albania. For the sake of worship, compulsion or even for his own personal political and power interests, Rama has surrendered unconditionally: Albania will start (if it has not already started) to produce weapons for Ukraine. The statement of Zelensky and Rama yesterday confirmed this.
But how was this decision made? It is not difficult to understand that the new American bases turn Albania into a target country for everything, which means that Edi Rama had to be advised before playing the role of the hero. Why don't the Prime Minister please the institutions? Roughly, this means that, he not only ignores his own people, but rightly lets you believe that his delusion goes very high: Rama does not care about the problem of Ukraine, but his own political benefit. In particular, these times when all his associates are going to prison, Rama needs very strong allies. With this, he hopes that when the war changes, he will seek his reward.
This is even more proven when you read the endings of yesterday's show called "Samit".
In yesterday's activity, beyond the message that the Americans wanted to give to the world, eyes were fixed on Serbia, the Russian Sword of Damocles in the Balkans. It is no longer a secret that Russia threatens Serbia, that it provokes and is ready to set fire to it, like a powder keg that can destroy the foundations of Europe.
The Serbian president came and did what he wanted yesterday in Tirana. The end as it has always done, with the approval of Edi Rama, his friend who pretends to hide behind the torn dress of Europe, but flirts as often as he can with the East.
To sum it up in very few words, yesterday's statement of the Ukraine Summit was neither meat nor fish, it was neither for nor against the aggressor named Russia.
Russia's envoy, Vucic, requested the removal of the flags to anger Kosovo, the flags were removed; requested the removal of personal signatures to spite Kosovo, so it was done; asked for the removal of the word "malign" for Russia's influence in the Balkans, so it happened, the word was removed; he didn't even want to talk about sanctions against Russia, and his request was granted; he gave the shape he wanted to the joint statement and that's how it was done, no one did anything wrong.
This is great politics, one might say! Rightfully so! This is big politics and little ones like Albania are not asked by anyone. But in this particular case, there is a fog that not only obstructs the field of view, but also smells. Because Edi Rama has created so many precedents with Vučić and Soros, he has worked so many times against the interests of Kosovo and Albania, that he is no longer trusted.
This time he has aligned Albania in the first trench of the war with Russia and China. He did it by taking a personal decision, without asking the Assembly, the President, the military advisors of Albania and even less his own people. Why? How should we read his turn at yesterday's Summit and that unilateral signed statement?
