All businesses in the country expect another price increase by February next year.
In the last survey conducted by the Bank of Albania, the industry sector is more pessimistic regarding prices for the next three months. Products produced by industry (which includes the food industry) in the country will be 13.1% more expensive than last month, as businesses have responded that product prices will reach 22.5% from 9.4% that was in November.
Construction is the second sector that expects the biggest price increase at 6.36% in the next three months, to be followed by services at 4.12% and the trade sector at 0.5%.
As for the citizens, they do not expect a strong increase in prices, but say that they have given up on large purchases. Citizens even claim that they are also reducing their savings, affected by the price crisis
A second wave of inflation was warned a few weeks ago by the Bank of Albania, as a result of external geopolitical tensions, which directly affect the price of energy and fuel, which are then transmitted to other products, including those of the basket.
Unlike the central bank and the government, which expect inflation to return to the 3% target next year, businesses are skeptical. All sectors claim that inflation will be around 5.7%.
