June 12, 1999 is a holy day for Albanians.
Liberation of Kosovo.
A patriotic dream, from the National Renaissance until 1999.
Albanians had a holy day: November 28, 1912, the Independence of Albania.
But now they have two days of liberation, two states and one people: the Albanians.
And let no one think that November 28, 1912 and June 12, 1999, are two days that were easily won.
This is a painful story, but a heroic one.
But also a flag - this is the flag of Gjergj Kastriot with the double-headed Albanian. A sacred flag for the Albanians, which, after shaking the Turks, sent shivers down the spines of both the Serbs and the Greeks, because even the Kosovar Albanians fought their heroic battles for national unity and independence with the flag of Gjergj Kastriot.
And the fact that the hearts of Albanians, wherever they are, are filled with Gjergj Kastriot and his flag, which is now a symbol of both Albanian nations. This patriotic rite is understood to hold within itself the fact that the national union of the two Albanian states in the Illyrian Peninsula, Kosovo and Albania, is a sure thing that will soon become a reality.
So happy celebration of the liberation of the Albanian State of Kosovo.
