January 2022 was an honest day in the history of the Democratic Party. That was the day when most of the DP leadership, the parliamentary group and its leaders felt liberated, even annoyed by Sali Berisha and decided to resist his violent attempt to take over the DP and use it as shield for his trouble.
It is not that those who resisted him and were the majority, had any great faith in Lulzim Basha or any concrete interest in doing so. The opposite was true. It was just an honest moment in their lives where they thought they could resist Sali Berisha, even physically.
And what happened happened. The armored doors of the PD repelled his physical attacks with sledgehammers and iron ladders, while the MPs trapped in the headquarters managed to escape the physical violence.
Three years later, many other events have happened. The sight of Sali Berisha on January 8, exhausted in front of the doors of SHQUP, with Flamur Noka on his arm and his son-in-law cursing Lulzim Basha for taking "money in a suit", was an indication of who Berisha could be left with in his day worse.
After three years, it's not the same picture.
Most of those who resisted Sali Berisha's physical violence could not resist the temptation to be in politics at any cost, even by surrendering to Sali Berisha, who had nothing more to lose, as he had remained with Flagur by his side.
Three years later, they calculated that Sali Berisha had more chances to make them a deputy than Lulzim Basha and of course, they abandoned the latter. But this history is no longer important for Albanians. Albanians are not very interested in where the majority of those who resisted on January 8 will get their salary, but where the opposition will find the energy to separate its fate from Sali Berisha.
On January 8, 2022, they had a moment of honest reflection and found the strength to resist even his physical violence. Three years later, most of them have surrendered to Berisha, having both sides in mind on January 8: Berisha who knows they don't love him and those who know he doesn't love them.
For this reason, no matter how ironed out today's photo of the PD is, it is no more honest than that primitive look with sledgehammers, iron ladders and tear gas from January 8, as it shows who Berisha really is for the PD. in, when there is nothing at hand.
January 8 showed that he is a politically and physically mortal man. It's a paper lion.
After May 11, when the PD is again in the opposition and when everyone understands that there is no winning with Berisha, from January 8, those who rushed to apologize to Berisha will not be remembered, but they, even a single one if it remains, that day is considered the day of separation of the DP with him. Because it is honest separation day. The days after it are shopping days. They are quickly forgotten.
