Are the DP deputies ashamed?

Driven by saving the chair and the mandate of the deputy in 2025, they are losing face and credibility in relation to the public and the truth. After all, they are neither the first nor the last. But like all the previous ones, they are destined to be quickly forgotten.

From the beginning, the tussle in the DP manifested itself as a battle for the chair. Apart from the very strong political stance of Mr. Basha, which culminated in Mr. Berisha's departure from the parliamentary group, everything else on the part of the protagonists has been a close calculation and a simple bargain for the seat of the deputy. There was nothing political there.

In this conflict, among other things, the DP showed that it is a party without political thought, while most of its deputies, as they are showing even in these hot July days, are funny figures who, more than ideas, articulate bargains; more than representatives of the people, they appear as slaves of the masters. When they had to speak, they were silent; when asked to make decisions, they raised their hand on the side of the one they thought was the strongest. As long as they thought that Lulzim Basha was stronger, they were on his side.

You could see them being even more ferocious than himself in the confrontation with Mr. Berisha. After Basha's departure and long absence from DP, surprisingly, those who were the most zealous, turned into the fiercest against him. Instead of his departure serving them to promote themselves and to articulate some theses beyond Basha and Berisha, how PD could get out of the miserable situation in which it is, they rushed to get into 'bargaining' with the very Big Problem and the reason for the conflict in PD, Mr. Berisha, betraying the cause they had defended for a year and a half and leaving the people who had trusted and followed him to the streets.

How is such a metamorphosis possible? How can people be trusted who show no elementary principles of morality and trustworthiness? I am not talking about their relationship with Mr. Basha, because for me this is the last thing that matters in this case. Individual relationships are two-way and, if they are broken, blame cannot be sought on one side only, but on both sides. I am talking about the relationship with oneself, with the truth and with the coherence of public attitudes. Are these people ashamed? Do they take responsibility in the evening for what they say in the morning and blush at lunch for what they articulated the day before? It is impossible to continue with the common expression that "there is no morality in politics". It is this lack of morality that has led Albanian politics to this state,

Even this recent conflict of some DP deputies, in my opinion, is showing the lack of political attitudes and moral values in relation to right and truth. Seduced by Mr. Berisha's promises, they are simply playing their "game" according to the principle "in politics everything is allowed". Driven by saving the chair and the mandate of the deputy in 2025, they are losing face and credibility in relation to the public and the truth. After all, they are neither the first nor the last. But like all the previous ones, they are destined to be quickly forgotten. Only loyalty to truth and justice lives long, everything else fades, is covered by shame and oblivion.
