Artur Metani takes summer vacation for this year as well, while justice

When justice ceases along with the Inspector who is supposed to protect it, citizens are left alone in their search for truth and justice.

In a country where justice faces major challenges and citizens loudly demand transparency, accountability and punishment of lawbreakers, it is surprising and at the same time tragic to see how the High Inspector of Justice, Mr. Artur Metani, continues to choose silence and inaction as the main response to the crisis in the system.

Despite the numerous promises and solemn declarations that he is working to guarantee justice with European standards, independent and impartial from external influences, reality speaks a different language.

Artur Metani's duty is to exercise control and disciplinary proceedings against magistrates who violate the law, not to protect them from liability. It is not a union or association that protects internal interests, but an institution that must guarantee integrity and justice in the judicial system.

The responsibility for the control and disciplinary proceedings of judges and prosecutors, those who have the greatest power in guaranteeing justice, is in his hands. But this task, which is essential for the functioning of a fair and transparent system, seems to remain more of a formal task than a real mission.

Instead of being the powerful voice of punishment and control, the High Inspector of Justice has become a silent "protector" of those who should be subject to investigation.

Cases of abuse, ethics violations, and corruption remain unresolved, while investigations are endlessly delayed and punishments are rare or light. This lack of action and indifference to public expectations severely undermine trust in the justice system and in the very institution that is supposed to oversee it.

In this context, finally, Mr. Metani has chosen to take his summer vacation for this year as well! A piece of news that under normal conditions would be simply routine, but in this situation it turns into a shocking symbol.

His layoffs are not just a physical stoppage from work; they are a reflection of a system where control institutions are in permanent "rest mode."

When justice ceases along with the Inspector who is supposed to protect it, citizens are left alone in their search for truth and justice. When the responsibility of disciplinary control turns into silence and inaction, then promises of justice with European standards are simply beautiful slogans that are not fulfilled.

In this situation, the question that arises is simple, is the High Inspector of Justice a real instrument of reform and accountability, or simply a shield that protects the status quo and guarantees impunity for those who violate the law? The lack of tangible actions speaks for itself, and Mr. Metani's constant vacations make this answer even more obvious.

In the end, his vacation for this year is a clear warning that justice in Albania does not yet have the strength and commitment it needs to face major problems. And while he is on vacation, citizens continue to face injustice, while trust in justice institutions becomes increasingly fragile.

Happy holidays, Mr. Metani!

We hope that with your return, a true commitment to justice will be restored, a justice that will not take endless vacations.
