Why does the KLA of The Hague scare the DP of Tirana?! It is more of a rhetorical question for an answer that is well known. If Sali Berisha, the undisputed leader of the DP, would show that he had some kind of empathy, he would express his condolences to Thaçi today for the death of his father, and some time ago also his support for going to The Hague. Understandably, behind him, every clear voice in the DP is missing, especially now on the eve of the elections. And, this is known and understood. Not only him, but also the Prime Minister of Kosovo Kurti has been "reserved" for this civil act of condolence that the Albanian customary code requires. Death is sublime and everything fades away as a sign of respect for the deceased. Just not in the rhetoric of Albanian politicians.
Berisha has pushed the insult and accusations against Thaçi so far that he has trouble going back. If you ask the officials at the DP why they did not pay a visit to meet with the KLA leaders in The Hague, there was and is only a shrug of the shoulders, because no one cares about Sali Berisha who long ago got into an allegedly nationalistic debate with Thaçi. To justify the smuggling through Albania to the former Yugoslavia during the war in Bosnia, he would attribute many problems to Thaçi and would close it with the label: "Belgrade's wages!!!" "He has taken over the Greater Serbia mission. The Hague file is entirely formulated by Vukcevic, he is a prosecutor of Serbia. Mr. Thaçi has a large file in The Hague and that file was entirely made by Belgrade". This came after former Kosovo President Hashim Thaçi called him "Milosevic's wages" in a television interview.
The entire debate has been conducted on the path that began during the Berlin Process and then with the “Balkan Open”, where there was talk of changing territories or correcting the Serbia-Kosovo borders. Two separate concepts, but which once created discord even among American officials. At that time, President Donald Trump’s envoy (first term) sent his confidant Richard Grenell to the region, while the State Department sent Matthew Palmer. The lack of a common institutional US-European voice was followed by the crisis in Kosovo. A post by EUobserver explained that the US has refused to rule out a territorial exchange between Kosovo and Serbia, despite Germany’s disagreement on this issue. Richard Grenell continued to promote the idea of a “quick agreement” for recognition, especially as the end of the Trump-1 term approached. A short time later, Grenell, when asked to clarify the news of the change or correction, was blunt with the media: "Fake news. You have never deigned to ask. I am for what the parties agree on. I am focused on economic development, not politics". Meanwhile, Matthew Palmer, the US special envoy for the Western Balkans, during an interview, after being asked about the territory exchange plan, said that: "it is up to Serbia and Kosovo to set the parameters of the dialogue" and that "the US position is not in contradiction with that of Germany".
Except Berisha continues with his record and Kurti became just as cynical, when in a declamatory text he asked Thaçi to move to The Hague on his own two feet and repeated this 17 times in a bitterly pathetic text. A few weeks ago, when Kurti was asked why he did not visit the KLA people, he made a cold excuse, according to which an extremely long procedure was required (Ironically, Prime Minister Rama filled out the meeting form in a few minutes!) and it was not possible due to duties, while Berisha is silent, just as he is silent today along with all his subordinates who use Kosovo when they need it. But Thaçi is not the only one in The Hague. There are also Veseli, Krasniqi and Selimi, who could expect a supportive visit from the Democratic Party of Tirana. This did not happen. It does not happen and probably will not happen. Apparently, even in The Hague, the KLA is scaring the Democratic Party of Tirana?!
