The so-called "Unity in Diversity" could not be carried out as a mechanical transition of the group's deputies from Basha to Berisha. But rather as a real political approach, which as a strong gesture would also have schisms or other consequences.
The merger with Berisha, perhaps at the moment it happened, might not have been a drama, especially if this had been requested by the DP structures, which Gaz Bardhi, as Secretary General, coordinated.
If there was political will, even if this result of May 11th happened, in the end, everything was the result of a collective stance.
But the reality is not like this. Gazmend Bardhi, even though he was the Secretary General of the DP, had no report on the party structures that his group, that is, Lulzim Basha's, controlled. Because it was precisely those structures that did not respect Bardhi and many of his colleagues, with whom they had cut off communication after March 14, 2022, when Lulzim Basha resigned.
Gazmend Bardhi, in reality, was outside that DP, but legally possessed the seals and legal signs of this political force.
His act on May 14, 2023, when he banned the DP from entering the municipal election race in the country, was an arbitrary decision, not at all political. He exploited his position in the most extreme way, against the will of the branches that made up the DP.

This has been experienced by every political leader of Berisha in the 12 regions of the country, from those bastions to others. Bardhi himself began his adventure as political leader of Fier with a political trauma, as a result of the clash with Luan Baçi.
Since the latter, perhaps rightly, considered himself a resister of that structure that had remained loyal to him, he sought the reward of being at the head of representation.
And time proved him right, as Gaz Bardhi did not bring added value or democrat votes, and may have even divided it worse. Not only in Fier, but everywhere, and of course the fault is not only the leader of the group, but he took on the unification, which ultimately failed.
Condolences over Zegjine's loss are a summer parody, but for the Democrats it is a drama, where Gaz Bardhi has the greatest weight.
