If this process were to occur, that is, a primary competition at the grassroots level, it would not be carried out at the last moment, but would constitute an act with stages of preparation, rules, and of course structures that monitor them.
So far, we have not seen a choice of candidates from the grassroots, as they were decided by the party chairman at the last moment.
Airing the version of the PDS primaries, more than a legend, is an insult to democratic militants.
Since the DP base, which Sali Berisha has, in reality does not own everything, has not been invited to date to give an indication of the candidates that are needed.
Let's take Fier, where Gazment Bardhi was sent as the district leader, who did the grassroots influence as an MP? What about Elbasan, or Tirana, etc.? We only had names that the center sent as political commissars.
A practice that is of course not only Berisha's party, as it also happens in others, starting with the SP. Which of Berisha's current MPs are acceptable to the grassroots?
This aspect should have been part of the political news in the country. But we have seen the activities of these MPs more in the Assembly hall than in the territory.
Bardhi started his political activity from Elbasan, which resulted in tragedy, and today he is in Fier. Meanwhile, the other MPs who danced to Sali Berisha's song before the new year were MPs. In fact, all of them are also contested by the structures linked to Sali Berisha, without adding here the militancy that left as a result of the schism.
Today, Sali Berisha, even himself, does not have an uncontested candidacy at the grassroots level, while all the colonels have rejected him.
Primary means process, alternative candidacies, which Berisha has not sought or nurtured. Because as he did with the delegates, he will command them.
The opposition has not started this process, as has the majority. Because in the end, the lists will be decided by the mayor. Which means that primaries are simply an urban legend.
