On the path of step-by-step reunification with Berisha's Refounded Democratic Party, the former General Secretary of the official Democratic Party, Gazmend Bardhi, was asked how he would cooperate with someone declared non-match by the USA.
The question considered the dividing line that the American sanctioning of Berisha has removed between the two parts of the PD.
At the same time, a series of statements by American officials and diplomats, according to which, the USA does not cooperate with sanctioned individuals, nor with political entities directed by them.
Bardhi gave a flexible, but also provocative answer, that while affirming the relativization by Prime Minister Edi Rama of those declared non grata in the majority camp, he threw the ball himself in the courtyard of the American embassy in Tirana.
The answer was: How Edi Rama cooperates with his non grata in the government. Taking into account the coalition of the SP with the PSD, whose chairman is Tom Doshin, or the candidacy for deputy of the son of a sanctioned former deputy.
Moral of the fable: As long as they don't tell Rama, why shouldn't the rest of us be allowed to? So why did we want to be more Catholic than the Pope?
In general there was truth in the parallelism used by Bardhi. But the parallelism in question also had strong asymmetries, which I wrote about in an article in real time with these developments.
You cannot compare the case of the leader of a small party like Tom Doshi, who moreover took a step back, leaving the mandate of the deputy precisely because of the declaration non grata by the USA, with the case of the former president and ex- to Prime Minister Sali Berisha, who, instead of taking a step back from Toma, went ahead to take what he had handed over, the Democratic Party, to have as support in his battle of sedra, anger and bitterness with the USA.
Legitimate as a battle for his dignity as a person, but including the Party, has led to its disintegration like never before and to the weakening of the opposition to the limits of the impossibility of defeating the Socialist Party.
Rama's friend, the former mayor of Durrës, Vangjel Dako, also sanctioned non grata, has been investigated under arrest in prison. On the other hand, Berisha leads the effort to challenge and delegitimize SPAK and the new justice system.
Comparing non grata is more lame than any comparison.
However, the instrumentalism of Prime Minister Rama's equivocations has been used as a good excuse by Bardhi and his friends, to pave the way for removing the obstacle of their inclusion in a political formation led by someone declared non grata.
That's all? No.
The big unknown in this important development in the plural opposition camp has to do with the American attitude.
A ka ndryshuar qasja e tyre, qoftë edhe në nuanca, në raport me qëndrimet e mbajtura në verën dhe vjeshtën e vitit 2021?
A kanë sugjeruar një zbutje apo tërheqje nga intrasigjenca e tyre e fillimit dobësitë e treguara nga Basha dhe grupimi i PD-së zyrtare në arenën e përballjeve politike me Berishën dhe Rithemelimin?
Kjo e quajtur e panjohur nga ana ime mund të jetë inekzistente për SHBA, ku ndoshta mund të qeshin me flateritë dhe fantazitë që prodhon politika e tyre në shamatoret publike të vendit të vogël aleat.
Por është reale për mijëra demokratë shqiptarë që e kanë shndërruar vendimin dhe qëndrimin amerikan ndaj të shpallurve non grata në kriter të marrëdhënieve me SHBA.
Gjuha e lëvizjeve politike flet në heshtje. Ato, lëvizjet, i mbush me fjalë, pohime, interpretime mjedisi politik ku tema e marrëdhënieve të opozitës shqiptare me SHBA është kryesorja. Ja, një shembull ilustrues: I ngarkuari për Ballkanin Perëndimor, zoti Eskobar, pret në zyrën e tij në Departamentin e Shtetit një grup deputetësh të Kuvendit të Shqipërisë.
Fotografohet me ta. Të gjithë e publikojnë me gëzim takimin dhe foton në rrjetet sociale. Edhe Gazmend Bardhi. I cili para kësaj pritjeje, ndërsa është bashkuar në Kuvend me deputetë të Rithemelimit, ka qëndruar kujdeshëm i distancuar nga veprimtaritë politike të këtij subjekti.
Hapin e fundit, apo si të thuash kalimin e Rubikonit, zoti Bardhi e bën me t’u kthyer nga SHBA ku u bashkohet ndjekësve të Berishës në ritualin e tyre të përnatshëm poshtë banesës ku ky i fundit është në masën e arrestit shtëpiak.
Bardhi nuk bën verbalisht asnjë lidhje mes hapit të tij dhe fotografisë me Eskobar. Askush që shfaqet në veprimtaritë politike të Rithemelimit menjëherë pas daljes në fotografi me zyrtarë të Departamentit të Shtetit nuk i përfshin amerikanët në gjestin e tij.
Nuk ka nevojë. “Dekodimin” dhe interpretimin e gjesteve e bën mexhlisi, deri duke e shfryrë fantazinë.
“Deputët kanë marrë bekimin e Departamentit të Shtetit për tu bashkuar me Rithemelimin! Vetëm budallenjtë nuk e kuptojnë! Amerikanët po e pranojnë Sali Berishën si një realitet që u është imponuar me betejën e tij.
U kanë kërkuar vetë disave që kanë qenë me PD zyrtare deri dje të shkojnë te e madhja, të bëhën faktorë atje, për marrjen e kalasë nga brenda në momentin e duhur”!
Ky është mexhlisi ku nuk mund ta kuptosh kollaj ku mbaron logjikja dhe ku fillon spekulimi. Por që ndikon në formimin e narrativave të reja politike në zbehje dhe në relativizim të euroatlantizmit si busull, në rritje të konfuzionit politik në spektrin opozitar.
Si për ti vënë vulën këtij konfuzioni, Sekretari Blinken në vizitën e tij në Tiranë e anashkaloi plotësisht opozitën jo vetëm në axhenden e takimeve, çfarë justifikohej me kohën e shkurtër të qëndrimit, apo me terrenin e minuar të opozitarimit në vend, por edhe në konferencën e shtypit kur u pyet drejtpësëdrejti.
We know that the doors of the State Department are open for delegations of deputies or special deputies of the Assembly of Albania. No one there will detect the political affiliation of one and the other. We needed this too!
It sounds positive that the political fables of every subject, even of the Re-establishment, point to good relations with the USA. But let's not forget that declarative and conjunctural "pro-Americanism" has not been a problem and has not prevented the plural and solidary political caste in Tirana from deciding only on the law and cementing impunity in the system for a long time.
I think that diplomats who deal with Albania should always be informed about the fluidity of the dividing line in the Democratic Party established by the declaration non grata of Sali Berisha.
Albanians, especially oppositionists, need an update of their views, when it is legitimate, in order not to give space to misunderstandings, equivocations and speculations.
This is not necessary for those Democrats who have long distanced themselves from Berishism as an authoritarian practice of running the party and the country, facing this long battle without American support.
But the clarity has value for all those democrats who have positioned themselves exclusively in relation to the dividing line established by the American sanctioning of Berisha.
