ShQUP contraction

The slide of SHQUP has continued its free fall even after the May 2025 elections.

The DP candidates for MPs with the most personal votes in the districts, but who failed to enter parliament (because the MPs from the safe SHQUP lists had previously taken their seats), gathered for “a coffee” outside SHQUP, where they discussed how the DP could be revived. Their concern seems to have arisen from the extremely low turnout at Berisha’s “Speeches” before the Prime Minister’s Office. But perhaps they feel the decline of the DP’s quotas even more broadly in the electorate.

In fact, in the weekly 'Voice of Albanians' poll on ABC NEWS, I have consistently measured this decline. By combining the poll results with the official election results in April 2021 and May 2025, I constructed the graph below, which illustrates the unstoppable slide in the DP's electoral quotas since April 2021.

After a relatively dignified result in April 2021 (but which failed to make Basha prime minister), SHQUP experienced serious dramas... It was attacked by Berisha's supporters with crowbars and sticks and was dragged through the courts, until it was finally legally seized by him through a court decision.

And after Berisha took over both the seal and the key of the SHQUP, did the DP's electoral quotas increase? On the contrary, in May 2025 they fell by 5.2 points, even though the LSI candidates (with Meta at the top) were added to the DP lists.

And what's worse, the slide of the SHQUP has continued in free fall even after the May 2025 elections. In the 'Voice of Albanians' poll of November 23, only 27% of those who had participated in the May 11 elections continued to support the DP. A drop of 7.3 points within six months for the SHQUP, owned with key and seal by Berisha...
