The Durrës Court has imposed the security measure "prison arrest" for the two captains of the ships and the sailor, on which 1,000 tons of smuggled oil were found. A court hearing was held today to determine the security measures imposed on the sailors of the two ships blocked for oil smuggling.
The prosecutor in the case, Eglantina Shehu, accused the 6 sailors of both ships of concealing and smuggling goods for which excise duty is paid.
Initially, Judge Besiana Garxenaj was familiarized with the indictment for the sailors of the ship "Besart", on board of which 400,000 liters of oil were found in the ballast tanks. On this ship, its captain Muhamet Kahila and sailors Ankit Dhul and Enea Çano were detained.
The judge of the hearing was handed a technical act issued by the "Vega" International Agency with a branch in Istanbul, which deals with the technical control of ships, according to which, for technical reasons, the ship was allowed to fill the ballast tanks with oil in order not to pollute the sea water. This was until the ship went for repairs.
But something like this was not considered by the judge who accepted the prosecutor's request and ordered "prison arrest" for the captain. While for the 2 sailors, an "obligation to appear" and not to leave the borders of our country was imposed.
