The police have arrested the suspected perpetrator of the murder of 81-year-old Xhemal Meta in Zall Bastar. The suspect is citizen Isuf Hasa. The police have found and seized the item used in the crime as well as the stolen money.
The elderly man was found dead in the yard of his house. Initially, the incident was reported as an accident, but it later turned out that he had serious head injuries, which were caused by hard objects.
Two days ago (January 13), Xhelal Meta had left his house for the village cafe. After forensic examinations, it turned out that the elderly man had injuries to the back of his head, which were suspected to have been caused by a blow with a hard object. As a result, the 81-year-old lost his life.
"Following the information provided on 13.01.2025, which refers to the finding of citizen Xh.M. without signs of life, in the courtyard of his apartment, in Zall-Bastar, we inform you that:
From the entirety of the preliminary investigative actions and the forensic examination, it has resulted that citizen Xh.M. has injuries to the back of the head, suspected to have been caused by blows with hard objects.
Previously, regarding this event, the Tirana Police Department referred the materials to the Prosecutor's Office for the criminal offense of "Intentional Murder" provided for by Article 76 of the Criminal Code.
"Work continues under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, for complete legal documentation and to determine the concrete circumstances of the event and the causes of the loss of life of citizen Xh.M," the police announced.
