A 19-year-old man has been arrested by Shkodra police, accused of transporting illegal immigrants for payment.
The young man received 400 euros per person and helped immigrants from third countries illegally cross the land border with Greece and then the land border with Montenegro, transporting them by vehicle.
The 19-year-old is charged with "Aiding illegal border crossing."
"The services of the Bajza Border Police Station, based on information obtained operationally, regarding a case of providing assistance to foreign citizens, against payment, for illegal border crossing, have organized and finalized the police operation codenamed "Borders 3". As a result of this operation, the citizen was arrested in flagrante delicto:
-VT, 19 years old, resident of Durrës, for the criminal offense of "Aid for illegal border crossing".
Investigations suspect that this citizen was helping immigrants from Third Countries to illegally cross the land border with Greece and then the land border with Montenegro, by transporting them by vehicle.
"Investigations are ongoing to fully document this criminal activity, identify and apprehend other citizens who may have been involved," the police announced.
