
Kosovo Police conducted an operation on the border with Albania, where they confronted a trafficker who pointed a gun at officers.
In the official announcement, Kosovo police announced that yesterday evening they attempted to stop the suspect, but he threw away the bag of drugs and fled into the mountainous area towards Albania.
A quantity of 21 kilograms of marijuana was found in the bag. The police have launched investigations to identify and arrest the Albanian, who is accused of attempted drug trafficking and assault on the police.
"On August 20, 2025, at around 8:30 PM, Kosovo Police investigative units from the Border Department discovered a suspected case of drug trafficking in the area along the green line between Kosovo and Albania.
During an investigative operation in the field, police officers encountered an armed man carrying a bag. Upon noticing the police presence, the suspect pointed his weapon at them, posing a direct threat to the officers’ lives. Despite being identified by the officers and ordered to stop him, he abandoned the bag and fled towards the mountainous area on the Albanian side.
After checking the bag left at the scene, it was determined that it contained a significant amount of narcotics. According to measurements made by the Anti-Drug Unit, it was confirmed that it was about 21 kilograms of marijuana.
"The police have launched further investigations to identify and arrest the suspect, while the case has been classified as an attempted drug trafficking and attack on police officers," the Kosovo police announced.
