A 46-year-old convicted in absentia for robbery in Albania has managed to get a passport and residence permit in Britain.
The Daily Mail writes that in November 1997, Asim Murtati, with four other people, ambushed a van where, after shooting, they robbed all the passengers.
He escaped and was sentenced in absentia to 11 years in prison.
In 2009, after his arrest, he was deported to Albania to serve his sentence.
Six years later, he returned to Britain where he renewed his old passport as a Kosovar fleeing the war and registered a business under the false identity, which he then switched to his real name.
The Home Office has already canceled the passport of the Albanian who has taken this decision to court.
