Details of the operation to crack down on a criminal group that forged American and EU documents have been revealed. The Tirana Economic Crime Unit had been investigating the structured criminal group for at least a year.
The counterfeit documents were produced in Kosovo and then brought to Albania where they were sold. It is reported that American passports cost up to 3 thousand euros, while EU passports ranged from 2 thousand to 2500 euros.
During the operation "Unit" citizens Kushtrim Doksani, 35 years old, resident of Tirana, Kujtim Gilani, 57 years old, resident of Prizren and Getoar Luzha, 28 years old, resident of Kaçanik were arrested. Also arrested were citizens Kujtim Duka, Leonard Basha and Erina Doksani, all three residents of Tirana.
The police seized 15 foreign and Albanian documents, suspected to be fake, 7 mobile phones and 1 motor vehicle. Specifically: 3 passports and 3 American identity cards; 2 passports, 2 identity cards and 1 Italian driving license, 1 passport and 1 English driving license; 1 Romanian driving license; 1 Albanian identity card.
