The motive for the TNT explosion in Shkodra, an event in which 67-year-old Hysni Ymeri lost his life, still remains a mystery. Gerti Bushati is the person accused of placing the explosive in the electricity meter box.
Bushati was identified through footage from a security camera installed in a business near the building, where he is seen placing explosives in the electric clock on the first floor of the building on the evening of December 27.
The explosive was activated two days later, on December 29, 2025, causing the 67-year-old's immediate death. The explosion occurred as Hysni Ymeri was climbing the stairs of the building to enter the apartment.
After investigations and analysis of several other security cameras, the perpetrators' movement route was learned, which led to the arrest of four people: Gerti Bushati, Ergys Ibrahimi, Edison Hasaj and Gjergji Zefi.
Police have not yet revealed the motive for ordering the execution of the 67-year-old. During the investigative actions, 28 mobile phones, a Mercedes-Benz vehicle, ammunition, narcotics (cocaine), GPS equipment, security cameras and clothes used by the suspected perpetrator were seized.
Meanwhile, it was previously reported about a history of blood feud in the family of Hysni Ymer. In 1995, in the Kiras neighborhood, his brother killed Shefqet Çekorje. The perpetrator was arrested and sentenced at the time. A few years later, according to sources, the two families reached reconciliation.
Shefqet Çekorja was the brother of Ismet Çekorja, who was killed in September 2022 near his apartment.
A few days before Hysni Ymeri's execution, his son, who lives outside Albania, arrived in Shkodër. Alban Ymeri told the police that the family had no conflicts and that he had not received any threats.
During interrogation at the Shkodra Police, the arrested have refused to give statements. Sources close to the police and the investigation group indicate that the detainees, in addition to being questioned, have been left together in a monitored environment, in order to clarify the identity of the person who ordered the TNT, who so far remains a mystery. The arrested are expected to be informed of the security measures on Monday.
